Do you have a horse you need to sell? CHT and Hillside Stable may be able to help you sell your horse.
We offer:
A heated facility with an indoor arena conveniently located near Edmonton, Alberta to welcome prospective buyers.
Training and assessment for suitability in dressage, jumping, trail riding, western pleasure, reining, and gaming. We work to expand the horse's potential market and to develop the horse in the directions to which it is most suited and to which there is the most demand.
Marketing; through our network of contacts, on both our websites, as well as provide photo and video ads on popular sales websites.
Ability to compete your horse locally, or attend clinics with your horse to expose it to international level coaches.
Our Target Market:
Horses ages 4 -14 years old
Heights of 14 hands or taller
Horses that are sound and in good health, with no serious vices
Horses that have some training and no dangerous habits
Conditions:
CHT will assess the horse's suitability and saleability to the best of our ability within the first 14 days after arrival. If during this time the horse is deemed unsuitable, or if CHT and the owner do not agree on a price, then the owner must remove the horse within 21 days from its arrival date, unless otherwise agreed.
After the first month, CHT agrees to give 30 days notice for the horse to be removed if it is deemed unsaleable.
Should the owner wish to remove the horse from the sales program, they must either give 30 days notice, or pay CHT for full training rates for the time the horse was in the sales program.
Owner and Horse must be sent in good health, with a well fitting halter and decent quality lead rope. Owner is also to provide CHT with a copy of the horse's registration paper if applicable as well as any show records or other information or photos that may assist in marketing the horse.
Owner must agree to inform CHT of any advertisements done for the horse. This is to ensure that all pricing and other information is consistent.
With the current market, it is understood that horses may take longer than what would be typically expected to be sold. As such, horses will be taken care of and treated to the same standards as Hillside Stable's own horses and will be turned out with other suitable horses after a suitable period of isolation.
Fees: Owner is responsible for payment of:
Reduced rate board of $150.00 per month including GST for outside board. Inside board is available for an additional fee.
Farrier bills: Trims are currently $30.00 each.
Vet bills including, but not limited to, deworming and vaccination. All sales horses must be current on vaccinations, deworming and dental care.
If showing or attendance in clinics is requested the owner must pay all show fees.
Commission Rate: Option 1: Upon sale of horse, Hillside Stable will be due a 17.5 % commission on the total sale price. Any prepaid board will be refunded. Option 2: This rate applies for greener horses, or horses expected to take longer to sell and requiring more training. Hillside and owner agree on a base rate that will be paid to owner, and then owner and Hillside will split any amounts over and above the base price. For example, if the base price is set at $1500, and the horse sells for $2500.00, the owner will get $2000.00, and Hillside will be paid $500.00.
